I have been slacking with updates. And with the recent national attention from Jimmy Kimmel sharing the same defect our kids have, I wanted to provide an update.
Charlie and Brooklyn are doing very well and as you can see, had a great Easter! We also recently celebrated Brooklyn's 3rd birthday which was a big milestone for our little princess. She is sassy, feisty and fierce; mostly because she has to be and we would not want it any other way.
Last week, Brooklyn had surgery to correct her kidney reflux. They added fillers to her ureters to help stop the reflux and all went well. We were back home and she was back to her normal self on the same day. She also had a cardiology clearance the same week and she was cleared for another 9 months! (For those of you who are unaware, that means she does not have to go back to Cardiology for 9 more months which is a huge milestone because visits start monthly at home, daily in the hospital.) All great news since we are approaching a year from her last open heart surgery.
Charlie is also doing very well. He was cleared for nine months from his last cardiology appointment at the end of last year as well!
We look forward to an uneventful, god-willing, year with no more surgeries and are excited that Brooklyn will finally get to go to the beach this summer!
